Thompson drops out

January 22, 2008

Well that was a complete shock.

We no… not really.

Never can I recall a candidate who generated so much hype and buzz only to fall flat on their face right out of the gate. As I’ve mentioned before, what campaign? Once he actually made it official it looked like he was completely disinterested in actually running for the office. One wonders why he even started in the first place. Hell, there are stories all over the net of grass-roots supporters, some very big names in local politics, who couldn’t even get the time of day from the Thompson campaign. Makes you wonder what was going on behind the scenes.

Oh well… I guess that leaves me to support… well nobody actually. Currently I am completely disinterested in any other candidate running for the office. I guess you could count me in the ‘anybody but Hillary camp’. Seriously, do we really need to keep going with the Bush, Clinton, Clinton, Bush, Bush, Clinton, Clinton(?) thing? Whose next after that? Jeb?

Yikes

Our department is gathered here at work discussing/processing a few new Purchase Orders. We’ve all been struck by just how fast O’Malley’s ‘just a penny’ 20% sales tax increase pumps up the sales tax charge. Looks like we’re going to have to actually rethink parts of our computer equipment budget this year. The best part? This is just because of the sales tax increase alone… we haven’t even been hit with the ramifications of the brand new 6% tax on ‘computer services’ (whatever those are eventually defined to be).

Way to pump up the economy Governor.
